The chief doctor at Kariya Toyota General Hospital, in Kariya and his colleagues assessed three separate studies involving the turmeric and came to some interesting conclusions about the healing value of this plant. However, the turmeric showed how to alleviate the symptoms of dementia and improve the overall cognitive functions.
“In a study that included three patients with Alzheimer’s disease, in which the cognitive functions and behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia were difficult, extreme irritability, agitation, anxiety and apathy, were treated with turmeric powder in capsules for more than a year, and it was found that the turmeric is associated with alleviation of the symptoms, ” wrote the authors in their research summary.”The overall rating of the neuropsychiatric short questionnaire decreased significantly in both – the severity of the symptoms and the burden of the caretakers, after only 12 weeks of treatment,” they added. “The rating of the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) went up by five points (from 12/30 to 17/30) in one of the cases, and the patients in the other two cases were able to recognize their families within one year after the beginning of the treatment with turmeric.”
