What is Bilaxten?

Bilaxten is a brand name for Bilastine, a medication that falls under the drug category of antihistamine. As the name suggests, antihistamine is used to block histamine production. Histamine is a property that is responsible to cause allergic reactions. Hence, Bilaxten is useful to treat and fight allergic symptoms that might come from conditions such as conjunctivitis or urticaria. Allergic symptoms that are treatable with Bilaxten include itchiness, runny nose, sneezing, red eyes, watery eyes, skin rash and also skin irritations.

When should I take Bilaxten?

Bilaxten is usually available in 20 milligram (mg) tablet forms. It should be taken right after symptoms of allergy developed for the best effect. Bear in mind that this medicine can only be taken by people above the age of 12 years old. Children are not recommended to take this medicine as there is not enough evidence to support its effectiveness. It might cause a serious side effect to the child if taken without consideration. Please talk to your doctor about any possibility that might occur if children take Bilaxten.

What is the dose?

The correct dose for Bilaxten is 20 milligram (mg) per day which means one tablet for a day. It should be taken on an empty stomach with water. For the best effect, consider taking this medication two hour after eating or one hour before eating food. Usually, any food or grape juice will have interaction with this medication. Hence, it is best to avoid these at all cost. If you forgot to take this medication, skip the missed dose and just continue the required dose as usual. Remember that different people will need to take different doses of Bilaxten. This happens because every person in this world has a different weight, height, medical conditions and medications between each other. It is best to talk to your doctor and ask his/her opinion on your prescription. Besides, always remember to follow your doctor’s instruction and prescription. Taking a higher dose of Bilaxten might lead to another serious issue such as drug toxicity. Meanwhile, taking a lower dose than required might not give any therapeutic effect to your body.

  • Not recommended for people over the age of 65 years old

What are the possible side effects?

All the drugs in this world will have their own side effects. Same goes for Bilaxten. These side effects were reported by some number of people. However, bear in mind that other people who take Bilaxten might not experience the same side effects. The list of side effects of Bilaxten is as follow:
